Anxiety is an experience that impacts on our thoughts, feelings, emotions and bodily sensations. While feelings of anxiety are natural and are experienced differently for everyone, for some, anxiety can take over our day to day lives, become all-consuming and debilitating.
Anxiety can deplete us of joy in life, cripple us with fear, illicit intrusive thoughts, make us hyper-vigilant and leave us feeling apprehensive waiting for the worst case scenario to happen. We may also ruminate obsessively and worry about issues pertaining to health, money and relationships.
These anxious states can sometimes be out of proportion to the reality of the situation but our thoughts, feelings and emotional responses feel very real to us in those moments.
